East v West

The 7th grade girls basketball team had their season opener againt West last night. The game was held in front of a packed crowd at BHS. Although the nerves were flying, BEMS came out ready to play. The girls played unselfish basketball, with all 13 girls playing, and six girls contributing to the score.

Bems got off to a quick start early on defense, not allowing a single point in the first half. Emily Teany with a great defensive stop taking the charge and Emma Hendricks leading the team and steals with three. BEMS played tough defense forcing a lot of turn overs. The Lady Dogs capitalized on their defense scoring 13 points in the first half.

BEMS came out of halftime scoring 11 points in the third quarter keeping BWMS to 2 points. The lady dogs of BEMS pulled away with a victory 30-4.

Emma Hendricks led the team with 19 points. Macy Twomey could not be stopped when she drove through the lane, also leading the team in rebounds and blocked shots. Atta Garnett, Aniyah Jones, Phoebe Brothers, and Riley Owens also contributed to the score.

BEMS will host Avon South after break on January 10th at 5pm!
