8 Boys Win in OT

Last night the 8th Grade Boys Basketball team hosted Westfield at BEMS in a thrilling game. In the first half, the Dogs struggled offensively and Westfield took advantage. Westfield would take an 11 point lead at halftime. After some halftime adjustments, the Dogs came out strong in the second half and cut the lead to 6 points after 3 quarters. In the 4th quarter, they would keep fighting and tie the game with just seconds remaining on the clock, to push the game to overtime. In overtime, the game would remain back and forth, but the Dogs had a 3 point lead with about a minute left. With under 30 seconds left on the clock, Westfield would cut the lead to 1 point and call a timeout. Westfield turned up the pressure to try and force a steal, but Griffin Simpson would be open to hit a shot to put the lead back to 3 points. The Dogs ended up holding Westfield on the last possession to win 39-36! It was an outstanding defensive effort all night, especially in the second half. Leading the way offensively was:

Kanon Catchings- 8 points

Spencer Porath- 6 points


The team would like to thank the students and crowd for the support last night! It was a loud, fun, and exciting atmosphere. The team now has 14 wins and 0 losses and looks to finish out an undefeated regular season when they host Zionsville on Thursday at BEMS.
